THE GLAD Program
The GLA:D™ (Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark) program is an evidence-based education and exercise program designed to help individuals with hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA) manage symptoms, improve function, and reduce pain. Developed in Denmark, it has been widely adopted in countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK. This program is led by trained physiotherapists and is based on current clinical guidelines recommending exercise and education as FIRST-LINE TREATMENT for OA.
This is a 6-week program. Class sizes are between 4 to 6 participates.
GLA:D Canada is made up for 3 parts:

Program Breakdown:

A Comprehensive Initial Assessment

2 Education Sessions (60 minutes each) about management of OA

6 Weeks of Physiotherapy Supervised Exercise Program (twice per week, 60 minutes each) of neuromuscular exercises to improve joint stability, strength, and movement control

Outcome Tracking: Participants' progress is recorded and contributed to a national database (GLA:D Canada) for research and quality improvement of the program

GLAD sessions and initial assessments are eligible for claiming with extended health insurance plans under Physiotherapy.
